EASY ALL NATURAL HOMEMADE BBQ SAUCE
BARBECUE SAUCES found at the store can be filled with some things Momma never fed you like Phosphoric Acid, Sodium Benzoate, Artificial Caramel Color, Potassium Sorbate and Red Dye, among others not grown in the garden. For sweeteners, they use High Fructose Corn Syrup, Cola Syrup, and/or lots of Sugar. Salt is never left far behind.
This recipe takes BBQ Sauce in a different direction, using all natural dry blends of Herbs and Spices. POWER Rub includes a fractionally lower amount Sea Salt and Sugar found in most brands. HEROIC! has no added Salt or Sugar at all. With the support of Nutritionists, Family, and Friends in the Gluten Free Community- these blends have been developed to taste even better than anything you can get at the store.
Basic BBQ Sauce:
In just 20 Minutes you can make a delicious All Natural BBQ Sauce worthy of serving to family and friends.*
1 1/2 Cups Orange Juice (May substitute Pineapple, Cranberry, Guava, or ???)
2 Tbsp. Apple Cider Vinegar
2 Tbsp. California Gold BBQ Rubs POWER or HEROIC!
1. In large pot, heat 2 cups of Orange or Cranberry Juice (or mixture). Add Vinegar and BBQ Rub. Stir until dissolved. Warm covered on medium heat. Keep a close eye- if it boils, liquid will quickly rise to the top. Stir regularly.
2. After about 10 minutes, sauce will thicken. Stir and heat for another 5 minutes. At this point you can taste sauce for flavoring. Add more BBQ Rub to taste.
3. Simmer on low for 5 more minutes, stirring regularly. Set aside until you are ready to baste meats on Grill. Serve unused sauce in a side dish at dinner.
